Production Tracking A Culture of Productivity will give your Organization a Competitive Edge
Whether you are a crew leader, foreman, superintendent, or project manager, the process of tracking production is critical to master. Within D. Brown Management’s Profit Happens Here! Production Tracking module, you’ll learn that production tracking is not a simple black and white process. Rather, it is a complete overhaul of a thought process, and when implemented, will create a culture of productivity that is hugely beneficial to your organization. It will also help your career immensely. At the end of this module, you’ll understand the critical concepts of production tracking, including:
- How to figure out what really matters, and what doesn’t, and then how to break a project down into those key production components.
- How to quantify production.
- How to set target production rates by reviewing the estimate and industry standards.
- How to maximize productivity by tracking production and making adjustments on a daily, or even hourly, basis.
Why are the above concepts so critical? When projection tracking is utilized properly, you’ll be able to track where the project is currently at, how fast it is going, and then – projecting where the project will be on a daily, if not hourly, basis. This allows you to easily see if you’re meeting the production required by the estimate, and if you’ll be able to stay on schedule. Almost more importantly – projection tracking will give you the information you need, when you need it, so you can make adjustments as required, instead of days, weeks, or months, later. You’ll also be able to keep track of these changes, and see what effect they’ve had on the production and the schedule. This is a powerful advantage you can use throughout each and every project, from beginning to end.
This module covers the two different types of production tracking strategies; Daily Minimum Production and Dynamic Production Tracking, but focuses more heavily on the latter, as it is the more detailed method. We discuss how to track production in both a unit based estimate and a crew based estimate. With hands on examples and practice, you’ll gain the information you need to begin the shift of language within your organization, and then how to take that shift and use it to your advantage. From “What If” scenarios, to figuring out a production target, to the nine steps to maximizing production, to other production tracking ideas, the Production Tracking module will give you the tools you need today to institute valuable practices you will use in every single project, from here on out.
